How this was calculated
  • Regular hours per week: 8 × 5 = 40 hrs
  • Paid weeks: 52 − 0 unpaid = 52
  • Base pay: $25.00 × 40 hrs × 52 wks = $52,000.00
  • Overtime: $37.50/hr × 0 hrs × 52 wks = $0.00
  • Additional income per year: $0.00
  • Total: $52,000.00 + $0.00 + $0.00 = $52,000.00

How hourly-to-annual pay is calculated

Your annual base pay is your hourly wage × regular hours per week × paid weeks per year. Paid weeks are your working weeks minus any unpaid weeks off. Overtime is added separately at your overtime rate (hourly wage × multiplier), so overtime hours are never double-counted as regular hours.

Monthly pay is annual pay ÷ 12, biweekly pay is ÷ 26 and semimonthly pay is ÷ 24. Weekly figures are averaged over all 52 weeks, so they reflect time off.

Example: $25/hr × 40 hours × 52 weeks = $52,000 per year, or $4,333.33 per month and $2,000 every two weeks.

All figures are gross pay, before taxes and deductions. To estimate take-home pay, use the paycheck calculator.

Frequently asked questions

How much is $20 an hour per year?

Working 40 hours a week for 52 weeks, $20 an hour is $41,600 per year before taxes, or about $3,466.67 per month.

Why is my weekly figure lower than 40 × my wage?

If you enter unpaid weeks, overtime or extra income, weekly pay is averaged across the full year (annual ÷ 52). With no time off and no extras, it equals your wage × weekly hours.

Does this include taxes?

No. Every result is gross pay before tax, retirement contributions and other deductions. The paycheck calculator lets you add rough estimates of these.

Is my salary information stored or sent anywhere?

No. All calculations run in your browser. Nothing you type is saved or sent to a server.

Does changing the currency convert my numbers?

No. The currency selector only changes the symbol and number formatting. It does not apply exchange rates.
